The Avengers: Age of Ultron teaser trailer has come to melt your circuits!

While the above trailer is light on inter-character dialogue, there’s no shortage of visuals to make a comic fan’s heart melt — as well as a bounty of shots of people staring at things off-camera, mouths agape. Many of us lamented that none of the Avengers: Age of Ultron Comic-Con footage leaked from San Diego this summer, but what we have here is better late than never.

Ultron has never been as high on my personal villain hierarchy as he is for others, but his full-faced reveal at the end of this clip has all the terror and grandeur you’d expect from one of the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes’ greatest foes. (Maybe a dash of the uncanny valley as well?) It’s the kind of thing that makes these movies so special. And who could ever have imagined that James Spader’s voice with just a dollop of metallic twang would be so perfect for him? Now if only a major crux of the plot could be Ultron refusing to lend the Hulk a finely-knit sweater because he’s afraid he’ll stretch it out with his bulbous head. Hey, he is talking a lot about strings…
