Will the Comic-Con Batman v Superman trailer make you bleed?

Note: Due to a recent illness and a subsequent trip down the rabbit hole of the medical system, the blog has been silent for a while now. Since the upcoming World’s-Finest-movie-by-another-name is, despite its underwhelming marketing to date, my most anticipated film in years, let this (hopefully) latest bit of promotion mark a return to activity.
And this newest Batman v Superman trailer out of Comic-Con? Better. It has its moments. Have to love Bruce Wayne charging towards the danger as everyone else flees for their lives. Robin’s costume, covered with Joker graffiti. “He is not our enemy.”
Still wish this Superman was a little less dour, though. A little more sunshine, please? Just a little?

How can I put it? Once again I am non plussed. Superman a symbol of hope but everyone hates and fears him. Ma Kent gives Clark the worst advice ever. She’s telling him to let humanity go to hell since he’s not human. These characters are unrecognizeable to me.
In fairness, I think Ma Kent was simply telling her adopted son to do what he feels like is the right thing to do, not what he feels like he’s obliged/supposed to do. Which isn’t bad advice, really. But yeah, the dirge tone of this is a bit much.

I’m intrigued by the trailers. Maybe Affleck can pull it off. He’s got that same look, clinical curiosity mixed with fatalism, wearing the Bat-anti-Superman armor, as Batman did in The Dark Knight Returns. But a little sunshine would be nice. That Superman movie was way too dark. A movie can be good without being depressing. It’s not what Superman is about, I think.
