TAKE A GOOD LOOK, SONNY, IT’S GONNA HAPPEN AGAIN!

I realize I spent the better part of a post last week talking about how grateful I am that one of my treasured films has never been pissed all over by an underwhelming sequel, but damn. Hot damn. More Twin Peaks. With David Lynch directing every sweet cherry pie of an episode, and co-creator Mark Frost teaming to write them. And Kyle MacLachlin, Special Agent Dale Cooper himself, tweeting about dragging the black suit out of storage. It turns out that fans’ distant hopes centered around a cryptic line from Laura Palmer — “I will see you again in 25 years” — came true after all.

So call me a hypocrite for getting all ginned up over it. Fine. Maybe the revived Peaks will underwhelm — though Lynch’s bizarre sensibilities would seem to ensure that it won’t be boring. Just let me enjoy this moment. It’s almost enough to make a man dig his trading cards out of the back of the closet.
