Monogram might want to rethink giving old-timey cars to kids
November 11, 2014
Not to say that all model kits are aimed at kids, as it’s a hobby that people of all ages can enjoy (and rip their hair out over). But should Monogram have aimed car prizes at bell-bottomed 1970s teenagers?
Maybe Monogram felt they had to Keep up with the Joneses — in their case Revell, the model company that saw fit to award planes and dune buggies and space suits(!) to lucky customers. But one would imagine that this would be little consolation to the poor sap turned into a greasy red smear by the street legal replica 1920s race car piloted by its teen owner. Or said teen owner himself, who just wrapped his car around a tree.
