An old-timey organizer for your old-timey comics

November 17, 2013

organizer

What do you use to organize your comic want lists? A notebook? Stone tablets? Sheer memory? Hand to heart, I still see the old things in the above advertisement in use, their yellowing index cards matched only by the aged comics being searched through and the graying men flipping through their Sisyphean catalog. I stand there, with my tiny, tatteredĀ Moleskine notebook, with its utter lack of any rhyme or reason whatsoever, and feel a warm, totally unearned sense of superiority.

And then some hipster pulls up beside me, his iPad in hand, and I feel very, very old. Geritol old.

I’ve had a problem in this area. My comics are mostly all in boxes in my brothers basement in another state (yeah, go ahead and laugh) because he has a basement and I have a shitbox apartment. So, several times I’ve bought back issues based on my memory of what comics I do and don’t have, but unfortunately my memory is comparable to Homer Simpson’s, and I found my dismay later I already had Marvel Two-In One 60-something. My reaction was, of course, ” !?X%@!$#!! Damn my feeble brain!”
